No.51269 is the photography project/publishing platform of artist Massimo Mgdr.
Photography has always been an important part of my work life despite the fact my formal training is typography/graphic design.
I’ve published independent fanzines since I was 14. Basic tools used were a typewriter and a b/w xerox. I only had access to cheap xerox machines and xerox screens to produce these zines. These simple actions brought that b/w contrast to photography.
Book: “The Floating” (pub. MGDR X No.51269) is a street/snap/night photography book. Collected photos from 1994 to 2010 and shot in the Kabukicho/Golden-gai area of Shinjuku (Tokyo, Japan) using various cameras (mostly analog and digital Ricoh cameras). The book depicts the “floating world”, a place where people rarely sleeps at night, and doze during the day. The Floating depics the stories of people who’ve taken a different path in life… No release date yet.

Ricoh GR1, GRDI, GRDII, GRDIII, GRDIV, Panasonic L1. I rarely use the SLR, although it makes beautiful pictures. But the size of the camera doesn’t fit my urban undercover adventures. Most of my work is shot on Ricoh. Thanks Ricoh for making the best cameras.
